Skalanews - Investment management company PT BNP Paribas Investment Partners (BNPP IP) predicts the mutual funds of stocks and bonds will have a positive potential in this year.

"We saw the mutual fund of both stocks and bonds will have good potential in 2013," said BNPP IP president director Vivian Secakusuma in Jakarta, Monday (3/4).

According to Vivian, she sees Indonesia's economy will continue its growth even though there are still no significant signs of economic recovery in Europe and America.

"As for the bonds market, it had been corrected in January," added Vivian.

The possibility of a hike in inflation rate and the removal of subsidies for fuel oil (BBM) would not cause long-term effects, said Vivian.

"Inflation is necessary providing its controlled and even if later-on it suffered a rise due to the removal of subsidies or anything, the effect would only felt momentarily. Instead, it should provide a positive effect on the market, so we could say that everything still quite positive," said Vivian.

Meanwhile, the yield of stock mutual funds over the past year was still below the performance of the Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI), as for this year, according to Vivian, the movement of mutual funds of stocks could still be as fast as last year's.

"What we learned from last year was that, investment managers, in determining the strategy have to adapt to market conditions when aiming to produce something positive. But it would all dependent on strategies made to respective mutual funds," said Vivian. (ant/nra)
