President Commands to Take Firm Action of Religious Leaders Attacker

Skalanews - President Joko Widodo asked the authorities to take firm action against the perpetrators of the attack on religious leaders who happened in Santa Lidwina church, Bedok, Sleman regency, DI Yogyakarta.

"I have ordered the authorities to act decisively and the state guarantees the continuous and consistent enforcement of the constitution," said Jokowi after opening the Working Meeting of Indonesian Representative Chief, Abroad at Gedung Pancasila, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (12/2) ).

He asserted, the constitution guarantees the freedom of religious citizens.

"Therefore we do not give a single place to people who do, develop, spread intolerance in our country," he said.

He mentioned that the Indonesian people have lived for decades with different religions and faiths.

"It's been decades, but it's not just in our country, because almost in all countries experience because of information disclosure," he said.

Jokowi insists there is no place for those who are not able to tolerate in Indonesia.

"Especially with the ways of violence, even the violence in a form of words," he said.

When asked if there was any political element behind the incident, he said he had not received the report. "I have not been able to report, Chief of Police is also deepening the case and motive of the case," he said.

The previous case of the persecution in the form of a stabbing of four people happened at St. Lidwina Church, Jambon Trihanggo, Gamping, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta on Sunday morning.

Of the four wounded, two were church members, a priest, and a policeman. (antara/Frida Astuti)
